A Guide to Luxury Shopping in NYC

If you are planning a trip to NYC, you need to carve out time to explore all of the city's best shopping. It's no secret that shopping in New York City is very unique and offers some of the best shopping centers in the city's most beautiful areas. You'll be able to explore tourist destinations while also getting your shopping fix in. If you are like me and always carve out a day to shop on your vacations then you need to check out this guide for the best places to stop and shop.

As a NYC native, I also enjoyed exploring the shopping life and now every time I visit I find myself in most of these spots as they truly give you the best city experience. The best part about of all of this is that New York is an extremely walkable city and you will be able to get a great workout in without even feeling the time, you will be too busy window shopping! Let's dive into some of the best spots you need to check out.

SoHo

You can't go shopping in New York without checking out the iconic architecture and luxurious shopping in SoHo. SoHo offers unique spots to grab a bite and a mix of local and high-end shops. You'll be able to stroll around and get your steps in as you check out the shopping and snap some aesthetic photos.

Columbus Circle

The shops at Columbus Circle are truly a luxury experience and one that is not talked about enough. Columbus Circle has perhaps the widest variety of luxury stores that are not open in other areas of the city and large luxurious department stores that you will get lost in! Not to mention, Columbus Circle is right near Central Park so you will be able to spend some time getting lost in the beautiful park and can even take a horse carriage ride!

Madison Avenue

Of course, you will need to visit the Upper East Side as a part of your luxurious endeavors. Up here you will find smaller boutiques that offer more unique pieces that will give you the Gossip Girl flare you have always dreamed of. Don't forget that the Metropolitan Museum of Art and the Guggenheim Museum are close by and have the most stunning artwork and architecture that is a must-see.

Oculus Center

The Oculus Center is a transformed train station that offers underground access to various shopping areas within the World Trade Center. Get ready for a truly special experience at this shopping center has the most unique architecture and feel and offers a different experience from other destinations on this list. This station has also become a spot for weekly programs that include art exhibits, musical performances, and various market and retail events.

Hudson Yards

Hudson Yards is a great stop for luxury shopping and also has a few popular mid-tier shops that are worth checking out. If your goal is to see the most of New York while spending on the finer things this is a great spot to hit up. Inside the mall, there is Edge New York which has an incredible 360-degree viewpoint of the city from 100 stories high. You'll also be right in front of the NYC Vessel which is a newer spot that opened in 2019 and offers the iconic honeycomb view.

Fifth Avenue

Finally, you can't make a list of NYC shopping without including the iconic Fifth Avenue. This is perhaps the city's most famous shopping destination with the best combination of high-end designer shops and mid-tier popular spots. Fifth Avenue is a great location in the city because it offers a short walk away from Bryant Park, Rockefeller Center, and Times Square and a centralized location in the city for you to explore.

It is impossible to cover every spot in the city as NYC is jam-packed with tons of unique finds and quiet spots that you will come to explore on your own. But for those who are new to the city, I highly recommend checking out these spots and the shopping and tourist attractions that they offer. On top of that, the city continues to evolve as you probably noticed many of these spots are newer locations that have brought a greater variety of experiences to both tourists and locals. You will really feel like you are living the NYC highlife as you indulge in great food, great shopping, and great sights.
