Travel Cards

 My Favorite Travel Credit Cards

Before you read this, know that there is a reason behind my selection of these specific credit cards. The Chase Sapphire is notably one of the strongest travel credit cards you can have, however, its points do not transfer to Delta or Hilton - two travel partners that can be crucial for frequent travelers. However, getting the Delta Amex Gold Card will ring you a $250 annual fee, you won't get some of the benefits I outline below, and you would still need a Chase card to take advantage of United Airlines and Hyatt Hotels. That is why if your goal is to get the most benefits and bonus offers, have the most diverse selection of transfer partners, AND a yearly fee under $200, I recommend you break the norm and sign up for these 3 cards together:

1. Chase Sapphire Preferred

Benefits: 5x on Chase travel, 2x other travel, 3x on dining, 1x on all other purchases, and $50 annual hotel credit.

Best Used for: Chase partners with Hyatt Hotels which is one of the best ways to redeem your points for a high value. Chase is also an exclusive partner with United Airlines, among other airlines and hotels.

Annual Fee: $95

2. Delta SkyMiles Gold

Benefits: 2x on Delta purchases, 2x at restaurants, 2x supermarkets, 1x all other purchases, and free checked bags.

Best Used for: Delta points are best redeemed for national travel as you can find many flights for 10k points. You also get to enjoy the benefit of free checked bags which gives great value to those frequent flyers.

Annual Fee: $95

3. Hilton Honors

Benefits: 7x on Hilton bookings, 5x restaurants and grocery, 3x all other purchases, complimentary Hilton Silver Status, and 5th night free on reward stays.

Best Used for: This card is jam-packed with rewards and very underrated. With a 3x minimum, this is a great daily card to use and also gets you status and bonus stays with Hilton. Since Chase doesn't partner with Hilton, I love having this card on its own for Hilton benefits.

Annual Fee: $0
